The inferno that engulfed the Grenfell Tower in west London on 14 June 2017 and tragically claimed approximately 79 lives has once again brought the issue of cheap, imported and highly flammable cladding to the forefront. The Queensland Parliament has introduced the Building and Construction Legislation (Non-conforming Building Products – Chain of Responsibility and Other Matters) Amendment Bill 2017 (Qld), which aims to prevent such an incident happening again in Australia.
